Red Cross Telegram 30.10.1940

This is what I believe to be the first family Red Cross Telegram from Southampton, England, sent to St Helier, Jersey, now occupied by the Nazis, via the Red Cross in Switzerland.  The process of sending and replying took about 3 months.

The sender is my Grandad, Frederick Bernard Mayne, living in Southampton, England, with his wife Betty (Elizabeth) and his daughters, Betty and Bernice (my mother).  He is sending the telegram to his brother Robert Mayne and his wife Ada (normally called Dolly) and his children, who are trapped on Jersey with their mother Florence and youngest sister Emily.  Side 1 shows the sender and receivers, side 2 shows the reply from his sister.
